The Valley Explorer
For those who want to explore the Tons valley in depth — Hanol's ancient temple, Mori's forests and rafting, the Duryodhana temple at Saur, and Asia's tallest pine. Take it slow, there's no rush here.
The Border Crosser
The ultimate road trip: Uttarakhand to Himachal via Tiuni. Two routes to choose from — the Chanchil Pass or the Pabbar River valley through Rohru. For adventurous drivers who love apple orchards, high passes, and the open road.
Temple to Summit
From the God of Justice to the summit — faith and adventure on one route. Visit Hanol temple, drive through Mori, stop at the Duryodhana temple, and arrive at Sankri base camp for Kedarkantha or Har Ki Dun.
Travel Tips
Best time to visit: March to November. Roads may be affected during heavy monsoon (July-August). For treks, December-January (Kedarkantha winter summit) and May-June/September-October (Har Ki Dun).
Vehicle: A sturdy car is sufficient for Tiuni and Hanol. SUV recommended for the Himachal border crossing and the road beyond Mori to Sankri.
Fuel: Fill up at Chakrata or Purola. Limited fuel options between these towns and Tiuni.
Cash: Carry cash. ATMs are limited in Tiuni, and digital payments may not work everywhere.
Phone network: BSNL has the best coverage in the Tons valley. Jio and Airtel may be patchy in remote areas.
Sankri accommodation: Sankri base camp has limited accommodation — book ahead during peak trek season (Dec-Jan for Kedarkantha, Oct-Nov for Har Ki Dun).
Chanshal Pass: Open May to November only. Check conditions before attempting. Not recommended during or immediately after rain.
